Basilio Matxin might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilson Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The audience was convinced that Viriato Moura's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edgardo Joseph was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Joannes in the 71st minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Viriato Moura could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Edgardo Joseph made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. Daniel Pimentel hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. In the 74th minute, Sidney Joannes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Moriste en el balotaje fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eustacio Firmo in the 77th minute of play. After 89 minutes, Sidney Joannes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Moriste en el balotaje and the Portugal players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Portugal's zone, Marko Törnkvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal and Marko Törnkvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Moriste en el balotaje's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
