Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Feliberto Otsando received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Graneros's Attilio Perna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 14th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Graneros's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Attilio Perna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Feliberto Otsando got free with Arnout Reekers in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Lesardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made a precise shot to the right of Attilio Perna. Graneros's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. 32 minutes into the match, David Eikelkamp notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Graneros's Attilio Perna. Attilio Perna was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Wim Wilmes hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Graneros's Arnout Reekers threw himself towards the right post 39 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Feliberto Otsando, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 41st minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Graneros's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's David Eikelkamp got a free kick in the 44th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gijsbert ter Kruimer to strike the kick off in the second half. Attilio Perna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Attilio Perna could save by the left post. Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored 1-4 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Attilio Perna, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 81st minute, Leon Annilker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Attilio Perna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 83rd minute of play. Attilio Perna made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a good shot on target. 89 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Attilio Perna. Gijsbert ter Kruimer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Netherlands supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Netherlands would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
