Santana Armada didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wim Wilmes went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 14 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goal looked a bit too open when Gust Ennemans came free, but Santana Armada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saverio Niva in the 16th minute of play. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Santana Armada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kees Mooiweer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Vancouver Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wiliam Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Bas Tuitert got a free kick in the 41st minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santana Armada having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Saverio Niva was the one to do the kick off. Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Santana Armada showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 59th minute of the match. Salvador Tate hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 64th match minute, Vancouver Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frances Grossman to maneuver through the defense. Gustaaf Groeneveldt took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Santana Armada. Santana Armada dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Wim Wilmes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Santana Armada read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. When Frances Grossman fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vancouver Reds's protests and gave Frances Grossman a yellow card for diving instead. Frances Grossman kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match.
