In the 8th minute Daniel Pimentel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yonko Stoichkov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Severiano Calisto in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. Leidenschaft's Yonko Stoichkov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 15th minute of play. 17 minutes into the game, George Suminskis recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Wilson Amorim. George Suminskis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Yonko Stoichkov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viriato Moura in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 22nd minute, Viriato Moura ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Yonko Stoichkov was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The supporters of Portugal booed when Leidenschaft was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Suminskis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yonko Stoichkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute Portugal were awarded a corner. Felipe Barreto went to the cornerflag to take it. 35 minutes into the match, Severiano Calisto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Severiano Calisto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Manuel Rüeck could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. In the 39th minute Hannes Rehbach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leidenschaft's Manuel Rüeck got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Pimentel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caetano Moreira lost his temper 47 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Caetano Moreira got a free kick in the 48th minute. After 51 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Viriato Moura.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hannes Rehbach made a kick off. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rudolf Maletz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severiano Calisto in the 66th minute of play. After having played for 67 minutes, Hannes Rehbach managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leidenschaft's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hannes Rehbach was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. George Suminskis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from George Suminskis in the 78th minute of the match. Vélaugur Óskarsson made in the 83rd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Daniel Deutsch however managed to control. Graciano Coutinho kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After 87 minutes, Gunther Rothstein mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Leidenschaft and the Portugal players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Leidenschaft's Gunther Rothstein got a free kick in the 87th minute. Yonko Stoichkov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Pimentel in the 89th minute. Graciano Coutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Yonko Stoichkov made a huge save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Portugal had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
