União Sport Clube Paredes's Edwin van der Sar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 10th minute of play. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roman Quilo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Pimentel, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after União Sport Clube Paredes's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felipe Barreto took the corner. The corner ended in Rodolfo Miranda almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but União Sport Clube Paredes's Edwin van der Sar did a great save. After 20 played minutes União Sport Clube Paredes got a freekick which was hit by Lourenço Gomes. If Felipe Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wilson Amorim went to the wrong direction when Jerónimo Furtado was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. If Viriato Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the match, Portugal's Viriato Moura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edwin van der Sar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 39th minute, Roman Quilo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 42 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Bastos. Edwin van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jerónimo Furtado to strike the kick off in the second half. Edwin van der Sar was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bartolomeu Dias showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 94 minute of play.
