Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) 3 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Alfredo Joey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santiago Mino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Palermo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Alfredo Joey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute of the match Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Joey showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Palermo getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Aquiles Eufemio hit a great ball. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago Mino, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santiago Mino in the 22nd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfons Hellström kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Joey having to interfere. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaias Grove didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute of the match Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Joey skillfully saved the ball. Alfredo Joey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 41st minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Joey having to interfere. Gustaaf Groeneveldt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alfredo Joey having to make a save.

The wind increased when Santiago Mino made the kick off in the second half. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Medina in the 51st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carolo Rozarius in the 52nd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 53 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Alfredo Joey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfredo Joey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 60th minute. Lars Meesters scored 0-1 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alfredo Joey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Lars Meesters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gustaaf Groeneveldt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wim Wilmes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Alfredo Joey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alfredo Joey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 83rd minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Alfredo Joey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Saul Felo charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Saul Felo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Palermo's Saul Felo got a free kick in the 87th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Alfredo Joey made a huge save. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Joey having to interfere. After 91 played minutes Palermo got a freekick which was hit by Alfons Hellström. When Gustaaf Groeneveldt came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustaaf Groeneveldt couldn't finish the play. 94 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alfredo Joey, 0-2.
