Luís Fernando Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Luís Fernando Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 40th minute of play. After 42 minutes of play, Febre Amarela's Lenílson Peres made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lenílson Peres to strike the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Fernando Almeida prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 76 minutes into the match, Febre Amarela's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Luís Fernando Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luís Fernando Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Eikelkamp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adil Vavasseur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Luís Fernando Almeida threw himself towards the right post 90 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lars Meesters, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Febre Amarela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Umberto Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Febre Amarela support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
