Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ponciano Abarca in the 15th minute of play. In the 18th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Barovero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelo Barovero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcelo Barovero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sigfrido Auletta in the 21st minute of play. Flavio Vittori made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Endura Abechuco sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 29th minute of play forced River CBBA's goalkeeper Marcelo Barovero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as River CBBA's Ponciano Abarca slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Flavio Vittori. That made the score 2-0 after 42 minutes of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

River CBBA made a substitution. Varis Birgelis replaced Cipriano Abechuco. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zaccheo Andolina stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcelo Barovero.
