The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Ömer Demirci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Casper Claes was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. In the 20th minute of the match KOCAELİSPOR got a corner. Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Peng Yang Guang ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ömer Demirci might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Casper Claes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ömer Demirci ran back to his position shaking his head. Şemsettin Tuyuğ showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. In the 35th minute, Zachary Bienienda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 37th minute of play forced KOCAELİSPOR's goalkeeper Şemsettin Tuyuğ to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 38 minutes KOCAELİSPOR's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edward Vanderstraeten who took care of the corner kick. In the 39th match minute, KOCAELİSPOR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peng Yang Guang to maneuver through the defense. Belgium's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Edward Vanderstraeten made the kick off in the second half. Ediz Tekdoğan charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ediz Tekdoğan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind KOCAELİSPOR's goalkeeper Şemsettin Tuyuğ, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 56 minutes into the game, Ömer Demirci cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Casper Claes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ediz Tekdoğan kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 65 minutes of play, KOCAELİSPOR's Ömer Demirci made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Casper Claes was left in no man's land by his defense there! KOCAELİSPOR's Hami Şahistan was substituted for Fiori Britto. KOCAELİSPOR's Aşır Zabit got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Siebe Michiels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aşır Zabit in the 83rd minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute Yves Dervaux shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şemsettin Tuyuğ saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, Aşır Zabit notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Belgium's Casper Claes. Casper Claes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 91 minutes into the game, Christian Kabasele was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KOCAELİSPOR's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Belgium the free kick. In the 91st match minute, KOCAELİSPOR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Kabasele to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Belgium defense, Aşır Zabit kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Casper Claes. The Belgium fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Casper Claes should have stopped the shot. Belgium's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
