The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexander Bottone got free with Flavio Vittori in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A nice corner shot did that Alberigo Di Franco got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Flavio Vittori quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 14th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rotili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alvaro Rotili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 16th minute of play. Alvaro Rotili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Siricio Liotta, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Deodato Magliozzi made in the 23rd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Sigfrido Auletta however managed to control. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 24th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Augusto Clemente managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.S. Sigfrido Auletta struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Alvaro Rotili didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Italy. A.S. Udinese made a substitution. Alexander Damiani replaced Bruno Maranzano. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alexander Bottone to make the kick off. With a little luck, A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili got control of the ball when Sigfrido Auletta tried to sneak it across the goal line. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Bottone, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in A.S. Udinese's zone, Zaccheo Andolina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvaro Rotili came out of the goal and Zaccheo Andolina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 76 minutes into the match, Alexander Bottone had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Flavio Vittori. Italy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alexander Bottone was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 81 minutes into the match, A.S. Udinese's Alexander Bottone sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavio Vittori narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. Siricio Liotta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Alvaro Rotili tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of A.S. Udinese booed when Italy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Porziano Marchitelli didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute, Alexander Bottone ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Flavio Vittori was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guiscardo Davide in the 93rd minute of play. Alexander Bottone blasted a shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Flavio Vittori having to make a save. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexander Bottone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The A.S. Udinese players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
