If Gabriele Batistuta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 5 minutes into the match, Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gabriele Batistuta. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Menchu FC's goalkeeper Camilo Salvidor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 15th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 18th minute of play forced Menchu FC's goalkeeper Camilo Salvidor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute, Gabriele Batistuta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Menchu FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Camilo Salvidor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 28th minute of play. Gabriele Batistuta scored 2-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Casper Claes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edward Vanderstraeten took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Camilo Salvidor. Camilo Salvidor dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Menchu FC's goalkeeper Camilo Salvidor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Camilo Salvidor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 41st minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gabriele Batistuta. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yves Dervaux in the 45th minute of play forced Menchu FC's goalkeeper Camilo Salvidor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Gabriele Batistuta made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Menchu FC were awarded a corner. Abdoulay Doucouré went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 63rd minute, Abdoulay Doucouré hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gabriele Batistuta in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casper Claes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Menchu FC made a substitution. Herbert Pilarski replaced Uriel Gorri. After 69 played minutes Menchu FC got a freekick which was hit by Siro Osasun. In the 71st minute, Belgium's Yves Dervaux dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. 75 minutes into the game, Gabriele Batistuta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Casper Claes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with Camilo Salvidor in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Camilo Salvidor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute Gabriele Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gabriele Batistuta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gabriele Batistuta struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Casper Claes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Menchu FC. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Menchu FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Belgium for much of the match.
