The audience thought a goal was coming when Juninho Pernambucano got free with Casper Claes in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The throw-in from Floris Claeys in the 20th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Morgan Möllgren. 21 minutes into the match, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Eric Soned reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute of the match Étoile Sportive Du Sahel got a corner. Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jim Njurenius ran over to the corner to take the kick. 26 minutes into the match, Juninho Pernambucano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Casper Claes. Belgium's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Juninho Pernambucano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Belgium's Floris Claeys quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Morgan Möllgren, made in the 28th minute of the game. In the 30th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eric Soned was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric Soned having to make a save. Eric Soned showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 35th minute of the match. Eric Soned showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Juninho Pernambucano in the 41stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Casper Claes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edward Vanderstraeten to strike the kick off in the second half. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juninho Pernambucano in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten made a precise shot to the right of Eric Soned. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Edward Vanderstraeten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eric Soned read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Juninho Pernambucano struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Casper Claes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Étoile Sportive Du Sahel. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Morgan Möllgren quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Floris Claeys, made in the 70th minute of the game. Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Eric Soned proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Étoile Sportive Du Sahel from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded Belgium left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Étoile Sportive Du Sahel.
