Match Report

Princes Park
Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0)
Inter Miami's Ksawery Porajewski started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Waclaw Marchefka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great ball. After 19 played minutes Inter Miami got a freekick which was hit by Ludomil Banas. When Germany's Frank Sachs in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Inter Miami's goalie prevented a goal. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by Inter Miami's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Frank Sachs was slow to take the kick. During this time Germany's players had a chance to rest. Germany's Frank Sachs was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Olaf Brytka in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After having played for 32 minutes, Adrian Dreifuss managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Germany's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adrian Dreifuss was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Albin Holweck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Olaf Brytka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sven Krakouer's late challenge caught a Inter Miami's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sven Krakouer helped the player get up and apologised. After 39 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Sven Krakouer. The long shot by Leszek Bara in the 40th minute really tested Tommy Kahn's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Adrian Dreifuss hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Frank Sachs to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Inter Miami's Patryk Banaszak seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Patryk Banaszak the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Inter Miami protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Patryk Banaszak had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 53 minutes into the game, one of Inter Miami:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Inter Miami's Olaf Brytka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albin Holweck in the 62nd minute of play. In the 64th minute, Waclaw Marchefka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albin Holweck might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Olaf Brytka. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Albin Holweck ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 72nd minute, Adrian Dreifuss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard and well directed shot from Ludomil Banas led 73 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Germany's Tommy Kahn became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 1-1. After a rather tough play, Inter Miami's Waclaw Marchefka got a free kick in the 79th minute. When Wilfredo Ebardo fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inter Miami's protests and gave Wilfredo Ebardo a yellow card for diving instead. Wilfredo Ebardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Boruc Petka during the 97th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Boruc Petka hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
