Chipa y Tereré's Ciriaco Macias got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Club A. Chipa y Tereré's zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Xie Chao Cheng came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 13 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo Cabral came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Club A. Chipa y Tereré fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when Club A. Chipa y Tereré's Jaroslav Nechvátal looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. After having played for 20 minutes, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xie Chao Cheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xie Chao Cheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 29th minute of play. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 30th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that Club A. Chipa y Tereré's Xie Chao Cheng managed to reach the ball for a save. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Serafino Urbez hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. After having played for 36 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Xie Chao Cheng was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Wim Wilmes struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Xie Chao Cheng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Gust Ennemans hit a great ball. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaroslav Nechvátal in the 47th minute of the match. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernardo Cabral made a kick off. Jaroslav Nechvátal struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Gust Ennemans made in the 68th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Gustaaf Groeneveldt immediately put the ball in play. 69 minutes into the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Xie Chao Cheng. Gustaaf Groeneveldt showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-4. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. Club A. Chipa y Tereré's Carmelo Velasco was substituted for Israel Igon. 81 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Epifanio Acosta came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 89th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Club A. Chipa y Tereré's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
