Jorge Bittencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yves Dervaux in the 15th minute of play. In the 21st match minute, Belgium was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laurens Vandamme to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nigel Devos during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Belgium fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 24th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 26 minutes, FC Lëtzebuerg's Adrian Duldurescu got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Casper Claes. Miguel Sanches might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Casper Claes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miguel Sanches ran back to his position shaking his head. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Sanches in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 33rd minute of play forced FC Lëtzebuerg's goalkeeper Jorge Bittencourt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Lëtzebuerg's Jorge Bittencourt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 37th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Miguel Sanches in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casper Claes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 42 played minutes Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Guillaume Bonte. In the 45th minute Miguel Sanches shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edward Vanderstraeten to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, FC Lëtzebuerg's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Jorge Bittencourt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miguel Sanches might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Casper Claes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The FC Lëtzebuerg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Sanches in the 69th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute of the match FC Lëtzebuerg got a corner. Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adrian Duldurescu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Miguel Sanches's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Casper Claes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Miguel Sanches left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lëtzebuerg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. In the 84th minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Bittencourt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yannick Bartz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Casper Claes having to make a save. The supporters of Belgium booed when FC Lëtzebuerg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitalij Káňa didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the match, FC Lëtzebuerg's goalkeeper Jorge Bittencourt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yves Dervaux. The FC Lëtzebuerg players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
