In the 3rd match minute, POPULAR F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jean Simão to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Portugal booed when POPULAR F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Attila Szepesvári didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fabricio Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Mei Xun Jun advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-0 in the 14th minute. Valdomiro Dionísio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdomiro Dionísio in the 18th minute of play. Pancracio Paniagua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A sloppy throw-in by Bruno Bastos in the 25th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by POPULAR F.C's Mazinho Carvalho. In the 26th minute, one of POPULAR F.C:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for POPULAR F.C. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdomiro Dionísio in the 30th minute of play. Pancracio Paniagua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pancracio Paniagua showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viriato Moura in the 38th minute of the match. In the 43rd minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pancracio Paniagua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, POPULAR F.C's Mazinho Carvalho got a free kick in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdomiro Dionísio, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. POPULAR F.C's Frank Moyle was substituted for Valdomiro Dionísio. POPULAR F.C's Váldson Tande was substituted for Gilson Cordeiro. The crowd rose to their feet as Portugal's Viriato Moura slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pancracio Paniagua. That made the score 2-1 after 65 minutes of play. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. Maicon de Godoi hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. 80 minutes into the game, Felipinho Amorim recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Pancracio Paniagua. Felipinho Amorim showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. POPULAR F.C's Pancracio Paniagua played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipinho Amorim in the 84th minute of play. After 85 played minutes POPULAR F.C got a freekick which was hit by Clarke Brooks. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Moyle, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. In the 91st minute, Bartolomeu Dias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3.
