Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Lars Meesters heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vitório Nascimento got free with Arnout Reekers in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 27 minutes of play, Netherlands's David Eikelkamp made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. In the 73rd minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mauro Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Natã Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. The supporters of Nova Venécia-ES booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathijn Doctor didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st match minute, Nova Venécia-ES was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Valladares to maneuver through the defense. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
