The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 6 played minutes Hahay got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Karbowski. If Nelsinho Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 18 played minutes Hahay got a freekick which was hit by Dariusz Opat. Zbyszek Pilipiec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christiano Palmeira in the 19th minute of play. 29 minutes into the game, Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zbyszek Pilipiec made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. When the match clock showed 32 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Zé Orella sped through Hahay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zbyszek Pilipiec. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ezequiel de Souza during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 35th minute, Ezequiel de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hahay's Zbyszek Pilipiec played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Orella in the 37th minute of play. In the 41st match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doni Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. When Adam Glembin came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Hahay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adam Glembin couldn't finish the play. After 47 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Doni Pimenta. Hahay's Alfred Skirzynski was substituted for Radomir Karwowski. After a defensive mix-up in Palestra do Interior's zone, Adam Glembin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante came out of the goal and Adam Glembin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelsinho Marinho was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Hahay getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Edgar Kornatowski hit a great ball. Zbyszek Pilipiec made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelsinho Marinho in the 54th minute. Zbyszek Pilipiec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Pirani in the 60th minute of play. Hahay's Daniel Janiczek was substituted for Adam Glembin. In the 63rd match minute, Hahay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Noworolnik to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Orella got free with Zbyszek Pilipiec in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Doni Pimenta kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Pirani in the 68th minute of play forced Hahay's goalkeeper Zbyszek Pilipiec to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zbyszek Pilipiec was out of position in the 69 minute of play, and Ronaldo Pirani capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ronaldo Pirani really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. After 81 played minutes Hahay got a freekick which was hit by Robert Roman. Hahay's Radowit Madajczyk was substituted for Waldemar Karbowski. A collision led to Hahay getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Robert Roman hit a great ball. Zé Orella succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-5 in the 87th playminute. 90 minutes into the game, Ronaldo Pirani recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Zbyszek Pilipiec. Ronaldo Pirani showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. After 94 minutes of play, Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho made it 0-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zbyszek Pilipiec was left in no man's land by his defense there! Zé Orella could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Zbyszek Pilipiec made a huge save. When the match was over Palestra do Interior could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Hahay throughout the match.
