The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★'s Narciso Tano. But to his dismay, Narciso Tano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Narciso Tano fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★'s protests and gave Narciso Tano a yellow card for diving instead. In the 6th minute, Narciso Tano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nelsinho Marinho hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Gavino Orlan came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho. But to his dismay, Nelsinho Marinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Narciso Tano in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★'s goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldo Pirani came free, but Gavino Orlan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anísio Carneiro charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anísio Carneiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★ defense, Ronaldo Pirani kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gavino Orlan. The ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gavino Orlan should have stopped the shot. Nelsinho Marinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Gavino Orlan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldo Pirani to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Ronaldo Pirani kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gavino Orlan. That made the score 3-1 in the 41 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nelsinho Marinho got free with Gavino Orlan in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelsinho Marinho was the one to do the kick off. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Narciso Tano went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. In the 55th minute, Narciso Tano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edgardo Txilar charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgardo Txilar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★'s Edgardo Txilar got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute Nelsinho Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gavino Orlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 63 minutes, Andres Sidro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Andres Sidro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carolo Goi didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Nelsinho Marinho came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Palestra do Interior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelsinho Marinho couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sérgio Cruz in the 74th minute of play forced ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★'s goalkeeper Gavino Orlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the game, Narciso Tano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Narciso Tano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-3. Gavino Orlan came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho. But to his dismay, Nelsinho Marinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. In the 88th minute, Luisão de Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute Nelson Xavier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gavino Orlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Palestra do Interior had won after a very even match.
