Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Otto Ekgren in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fodor Daniel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Taco van Diemen's late challenge caught a Hungary's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alvydas Turskis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Fodor Daniel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joost Holst, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Ajax Amsterdam's goal looked a bit too open when Takacs Tibor came free, but Alvydas Turskis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antal Valentin got free with Alvydas Turskis in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Major Barna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 67 played minutes Ajax Amsterdam got a freekick which was hit by Taco van Diemen. The Hungary fans' excitement grew in the 95th match minute when Hungary's Major Barna looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
