The supporters of Bornova booed when Hungary was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antal Valentin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bornova's Fernando Dracena got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute Major Barna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarık İnanç saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fernando Dracena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hungary's Fodor Daniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Dracena in the 55th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fernando Dracena in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fodor Daniel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 67 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Dracena came free, but Fodor Daniel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 72nd minute Fernando Dracena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antal Valentins short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Tarık İnanç to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
