In the 8th minute, Ersan Ergüleç reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Wilson Amorim. The goal made the score 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felipe Barreto in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sidney Motta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sidney Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano Moreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sidney Motta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felipe Barreto went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 18th minute, Rogério da Silva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ersan Ergüleç in the 20th minute of play. Sidney Motta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 21st minute of the match. 24 minutes into the match, Portugal's Caetano Moreira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sidney Motta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Imbituba - FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Barreto was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Portugal's Graciano Coutinho to fire away a dangerous shot which Sidney Motta despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Sidney Motta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 30 minutes had been played when some careless play by Imbituba - FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Barreto was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Portugal's corner Caetano Moreira fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Sidney Motta quite easily take care of the ball. 30 minutes into the game, Caetano Moreira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Sidney Motta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. From close distance Válbson Pimenta pressed in the 2-2 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 35 minutes into the game. In the 40th minute, Rogério da Silva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Caetano Moreira hit a great ball. With a little luck, Portugal's Wilson Amorim got control of the ball when Válbson Pimenta tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Válbson Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Válbson Pimenta in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Válbson Pimenta to make the kick off. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sidney Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Pimentel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Portugal booed when Imbituba - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rolando Gaspard didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Válbson Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute Válbson Pimenta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Ersan Ergüleç came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th minute, Válbson Pimenta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 68th minute, Válbson Pimenta made a precise shot to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Portugal made a substitution. Felipinho Amorim replaced Felipe Barreto. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nathaniel Burnett in the 74th minute of the match. After 76 minutes of play, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Nathaniel Burnett made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Amorim was left in no man's land by his defense there! Imbituba - FSCMZ's Ademar de Mendonça was substituted for Armandinho Loyola. Sidney Motta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipinho Amorim in the 80th minute of play. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Portugal were furious when Raul Caetano was red carded, 83 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 83 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Portugal! Portugal's Graciano Coutinho managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Nathaniel Burnett in the 87 minute of the game. Sidney Motta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Pimentel in the 91st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nathaniel Burnett in the 93rd minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 94 minutes had been played when some careless play by Portugal's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rafa Marques was slow to take the kick. During this time Imbituba - FSCMZ's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Rogério da Silva almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Portugal's Wilson Amorim did a great save. Nathaniel Burnett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Greg Drysdale hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Sidney Motta got control of the ball when Graciano Coutinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Portugal players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
