In the 10th minute, Frank Sachs made a precise shot to the right of Dan Gheară. Cosmos Soccer Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Germany booed when Cosmos Soccer Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldo Bean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frank Sachs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dan Gheară read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. The supporters of Cosmos Soccer Club booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willy Stieler didn't get a good kick on the ball. The tension between the Germany and the Cosmos Soccer Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 39 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Sven Krakouer. Joey Benedict was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 39th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Albin Holweck came free, but Dan Gheară reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Tommy Kahn acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 44th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Joey Benedict. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivan Ţopescu was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Albin Holweck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Ivan Ţopescu came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Cosmos Soccer Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivan Ţopescu couldn't finish the play. Dan Gheară made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frank Sachs in the 57th minute. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Cosmos Soccer Club's Ivan Ţopescu. But to his dismay, Ivan Ţopescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After 66 played minutes Cosmos Soccer Club got a freekick which was hit by Harvey Flynn. In the 70th minute, Iago Aspas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Cosmos Soccer Club getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. 姜永洲 hit a great ball. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Ţopescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Ţopescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute, Joey Benedict hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 88 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when 姜永洲 came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
