Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Diedrik Van Mechelen sent off a good shot on target. Ball Packert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diedrik Van Mechelen got free with Arnout Reekers in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 22nd minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 26th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ball Packert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 28th minute of play forced Ulan Bator Football Club's goalkeeper Ball Packert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jérémy Doku got free with Arnout Reekers in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 32 minutes, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 33rd match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Eikelkamp to maneuver through the defense. 35 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ball Packert made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. In the 39th minute of the match Ulan Bator Football Club got a corner. Netherlands's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Diedrik Van Mechelen ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Jérémy Doku managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 43 minutes into the game, Lars Meesters was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Netherlands's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ulan Bator Football Club the free kick. The supporters of Ulan Bator Football Club booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Meesters didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ulan Bator Football Club's goalkeeper Ball Packert, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Wim Wilmes kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. After 66 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by David Eikelkamp. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ball Packert having to interfere. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kieth Hacke in the 79th minute of play. 83 minutes into the match Gustaaf Groeneveldt climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-2 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Ball Packert. Ulan Bator Football Club's Jarno Depelsmaker was substituted for Willy Smidts. Gustaaf Groeneveldt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ball Packert having to make a save. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
