In the 16th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Rova Rosiori's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Netherlands's Wim Wilmes to fire away a dangerous shot which Paul Dumitru despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paul Dumitru. Rova Rosiori's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wim Wilmes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The Rova Rosiori fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paul Dumitru should have stopped the shot. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Beltran in the 88th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Francisco Beltran managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rova Rosiori's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Beltran was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Netherlands walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
