The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ignacy Banach in the 3rd minute of play. Teobald Sikola could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Gustaaf Groeneveldt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jiang Zhen Qiang was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lars Meesters received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Jiang Zhen Qiang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jiang Zhen Qiang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 35th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 37 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jiang Zhen Qiang narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 41st minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jiang Zhen Qiang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jiang Zhen Qiang saved STORMTROOPERS ON GRASS from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a free kick in the 54th minute. Jiang Zhen Qiang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 57th minute of the match. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Jiang Zhen Qiang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jiang Zhen Qiang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jiang Zhen Qiang came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 92 minutes into the match, STORMTROOPERS ON GRASS's goalkeeper Jiang Zhen Qiang had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jiang Zhen Qiang having to interfere.
