After 9 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Willy Stieler. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danijel Petrlin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute, Frano Letina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Maksimir's Danijel Petrlin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Kahn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Maksimir's Marin Kuharić was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tommy Kahn in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 26th minute of play forced Maksimir's goalkeeper Boleslaw Jaktorowo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Germany's Frank Sachs got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 29 minutes, Frank Sachs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Germany's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Sachs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Maksimir's Frano Letina got a free kick in the 34th minute. After having played for 36 minutes, Danijel Petrlin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tommy Kahn was a little too slow when Adrijan Grbović got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Danijel Petrlin got free with Tommy Kahn in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Sachs made a kick off. Danijel Petrlin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Kahn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Boleslaw Jaktorowo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frank Sachs in the 59th minute. In the 61st minute, Frank Sachs got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Maksimir made a substitution. Danijel Petrlin might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Kahn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Danijel Petrlin ran back to his position shaking his head. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danijel Petrlin, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. In the 91stth minute of the game Danijel Petrlin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Germany's Tommy Kahn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Germany players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Maksimir.
