With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kristen Gulskov saved Monks in Robes from getting behind. Kristen Gulskov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Kristen Gulskov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 52nd minute of the match. After 53 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. 56 minutes into the match, Monks in Robes's goalkeeper Kristen Gulskov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. In the 58th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristen Gulskov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joachim Mæhle hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. If Lars Meesters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Albinus Alking sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 62 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Albinus Alking came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Monks in Robes's Kristen Gulskov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 68th minute of play. 71 minutes into the match, Monks in Robes's goalkeeper Kristen Gulskov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albinus Alking, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Axel Ree managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monks in Robes's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Ree was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 80th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Monks in Robes's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience was convinced that Axel Ree's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnout Reekers was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. After having played for 91 minutes, Albinus Alking managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monks in Robes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albinus Alking was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Monks in Robes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albinus Alking didn't get a good kick on the ball. Netherlands played a much better game than Monks in Robes and deserved their victory. The Monks in Robes players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
