Norrlands Athen's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Filcho Slivkov in the 26th minute. A nice corner shot did that Filcho Slivkov got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wilson Amorim quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 28 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Moreira came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manfred Fribäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Manfred Fribäck stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Viriato Moura's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Portugal's zone, Andrew Tate stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal and Andrew Tate tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felipe Barreto in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manfred Fribäck saved Norrlands Athen from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Måns Sandberg got free with Wilson Amorim in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Portugal's Felipe Barreto got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Norrlands Athen defense, Caetano Moreira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manfred Fribäck. The Norrlands Athen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manfred Fribäck should have stopped the shot. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andrew Tate stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
