In the 10th minute, Toni Mauzer sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Puskás Akadémia's Gusztáv Horváth didn't even have to move. When Ede Erős came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Puskás Akadémia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ede Erős couldn't finish the play. Ilija Skugor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vendel Hellinger in the 16th minute. Ilija Skugor made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Ádám Újváry sent off a good shot on target. Ede Erős sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ádám Újváry succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 22nd playminute. Puskás Akadémia's Márton Koós got his second yellow card of the match in the 26th minute. The referee ordered Márton Koós off the ground. After 27 played minutes Puskás Akadémia got a freekick which was hit by Márton Koós. Ilija Skugor made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Vendel Hellinger sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when József Lázár got free with Ilija Skugor in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Croatia's Ilija Skugor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vendel Hellinger in the 34th minute of play. Ilija Skugor didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from József Lázár went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Ilija Skugor made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Ádám Újváry sent off a good shot on target. József Lázár could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Ilija Skugor made a huge save. In the 42nd minute, Ede Erős ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ilija Skugor was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 45 minutes into the match, Ádám Újváry had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ilija Skugor. Croatia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ádám Újváry was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when József Lázár stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adorján Lantos in the 52nd minute of play forced Croatia's goalkeeper Ilija Skugor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ilija Skugor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adorján Lantos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that József Lázár's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ilija Skugor was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Tamás Portik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th minute Ádám Újváry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilija Skugor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th minute, Damir Pongrac hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st minute, Ádám Újváry ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ilija Skugor was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. When Ede Erős came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Puskás Akadémia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ede Erős couldn't finish the play. 73 minutes into the match, Croatia's goal looked a bit too open when József Lázár came free, but Ilija Skugor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers József Lázár in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ilija Skugor saved Croatia from getting behind. When Damir Pongrac fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Croatia's protests and gave Damir Pongrac a yellow card for diving instead. After 79 played minutes Croatia got a freekick which was hit by Damir Pongrac. Ilija Skugor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from József Lázár in the 80th minute of the match. Ádám Újváry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Ilija Skugor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Puskás Akadémia players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
