Kaido Jaas might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kaido Jaas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 25th match minute, FC Dundee was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kaido Jaas to maneuver through the defense. Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kaido Jaas's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 34 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ain Averin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 37 minutes, Hardi Lind mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Dundee and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. FC Dundee's Arno Luuk was substituted for Hardi Lind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Ain Averin in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in FC Dundee's zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ain Averin came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ain Averin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arno Luuk took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1.
