After some careless play in the Gnaget defense, Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sven-Åke Springfält. The Gnaget fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sven-Åke Springfält should have stopped the shot. After having played for 7 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 10th minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. David Eikelkamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 13 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sven-Åke Springfält. Gnaget's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wim Wilmes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 17 minutes, Denílson Ronaldinho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gnaget and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 18th match minute, Gnaget was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denílson Ronaldinho to maneuver through the defense. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Herbert Lång's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 21stth minute, Arnout Reekers skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Sven-Åke Springfält made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 24th minute of play. Sven-Åke Springfält took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. David Eikelkamp hit a great ball. In the 36th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Åke Springfält saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sven-Åke Springfält showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Herbert Lång sent off a good shot on target. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gnaget's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Gnaget's Sven-Åke Springfält played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 57th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sven-Åke Springfält. That made the score 0-3 after 60 minutes of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Wim Wilmes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sven-Åke Springfält. That made the score 0-4 in the 63 minute of play. 69 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sven-Åke Springfält made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sven-Åke Springfält having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Elazaro Lazaeta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Sven-Åke Springfält made a huge save. 83 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sven-Åke Springfält, 0-6. After 90 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. In the 95th match minute, Gnaget was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Višňovský to maneuver through the defense. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Gnaget fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Netherlands were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
