But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Răzvan Spineanu couldn't finish the play. Felipe Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Karol Pierz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Karol Pierz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Karol Pierz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 42nd minute of play. A collision led to RED BLUE STAR getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Leszek Ferfecki hit a great ball. Răzvan Spineanu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Teobald Solarek charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Teobald Solarek the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Teobald Solarek hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. 75 minutes into the match, Portugal's Graciano Coutinho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karol Pierz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
