No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Bas Tuitert hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hannibal Lecter charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hannibal Lecter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Hannibal Lecter hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 61 minutes into the match, LEGIA Bielany's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Black Boruc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 64 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Bas Tuitert hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hannibal Lecter in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Netherlands's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Franciszek Dresik was slow to take the kick. During this time LEGIA Bielany's players had a chance to rest. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hannibal Lecter, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Black Boruc made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 85th minute. After some careless play in the LEGIA Bielany defense, Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Black Boruc. The LEGIA Bielany fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Black Boruc should have stopped the shot. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hannibal Lecter in the 91st minute of play. A hard, long distance shot from Wim Wilmes flew over the goal. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Lars Meesters hit a great ball. Black Boruc was a little too slow when Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 96th minute. The score was now 1-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
