Vavrinec Holub tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 5 minutes into the game, Dalimil Charvat was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Czech Republic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Botafogo MZRJ the free kick. Dalimil Charvat hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Serginho Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vavrinec Holub having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Denis Dostal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Czech Republic's Vavrinec Holub proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Czech Republic from getting a goal against them. In the 21st minute, Álvaro Melo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Isaltino Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Vavrinec Holub tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kvetoslav Janku charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kvetoslav Janku the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jailson Capixaba's late challenge caught a Czech Republic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jailson Capixaba helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Botafogo MZRJ getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Jailson Capixaba hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jailson Capixaba in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vavrinec Holub saved Czech Republic from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Czech Republic's zone, Jailson Capixaba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vavrinec Holub came out of the goal and Jailson Capixaba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vavrinec Holub made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jailson Capixaba in the 40th minute. In the 42nd minute Erik Jilek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Vítor Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Vítor Netto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Dostal, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 46th minute Czech Republic were awarded a corner. Erik Jilek went to the cornerflag to take it. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jailson Capixaba to strike the kick off in the second half. Serginho Azevedo might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vavrinec Holub. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Serginho Azevedo ran back to his position shaking his head. Serginho Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Vavrinec Holub took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jailson Capixaba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Czech Republic booed when Botafogo MZRJ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Czech Republic getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Denis Dostal hit a great ball. Botafogo MZRJ made a substitution. Gilmar Couto replaced Jailson Capixaba. In the 78th match minute, Czech Republic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denis Dostal to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by David Rusil during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Czech Republic getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. David Rusil hit a great ball. Vavrinec Holub came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Botafogo MZRJ's Gilmar Couto. But to his dismay, Gilmar Couto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 92nd minute Gilmar Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vavrinec Holub saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Botafogo MZRJ had played much better football throughout.
