The referee ignored Germany's protests and gave Adrian Dreifuss a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Marcellus Walpert managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olympique Fribourg's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcellus Walpert was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The Germany fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Kahn should have stopped the shot. If Fred Stutz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Raik Topuz took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Tommy Kahn to make any attempt to save it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Frank Sachs could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Patrick Knechtli made a huge save. Raik Topuz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
