FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antal Valentin in the 14th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Radowit Ogrodowicz made a kick off. Hungary's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Eero Grönholm recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Takacs Tibor came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Hungary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Takacs Tibor couldn't finish the play. 70 minutes into the match, Hungary's Antal Valentin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thomas Sørensen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 71 played minutes FC Grivata got a freekick which was hit by Tzvetoslav Serdev. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Major Barna took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Thomas Sørensen to make any attempt to save it. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Sørensen having to interfere. The supporters of Hungary booed when FC Grivata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arhangel Vergov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hungary's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
