Spain's Gabriel Ascaso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Spain from getting a goal against them. Christof Deroek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Aranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Christof Deroek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adria Bielsa in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th match minute, Selebi-Phikwe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vlad Tudose to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Benedicto Atarratze to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Rafik Oliwa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Christof Deroek made an important save on a dangerous shot by Omar Toledo in the 55th minute. After 55 minutes Selebi-Phikwe's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Omar Toledo who took care of the corner kick. Christof Deroek was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 96th minute, Carles Cherro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Spain fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Spain's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
