Mauro-Facundo Buffon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Siricio Liotta went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Porziano Marchitelli struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Mauro-Facundo Buffon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Italy. If Porziano Marchitelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Italy booed when Merusca F&P was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fellipe Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Merusca F&P's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Mauro-Facundo Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Siricio Liotta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mauro-Facundo Buffon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Merusca F&P's Florian Capasso ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. In the 42nd minute, Fellipe Capixaba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mauro-Facundo Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Siricio Liotta in the 48th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Mauro-Facundo Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 51st minute of play. Porziano Marchitelli could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Mauro-Facundo Buffon made a huge save. In the 54th minute Italy were awarded a corner. Sigfrido Auletta went to the cornerflag to take it. 59 minutes into the game, Siricio Liotta recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mauro-Facundo Buffon. Siricio Liotta showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Siricio Liotta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merusca F&P's Hélder Fonseca was substituted for Florian Capasso. Merusca F&P made a substitution. Marcinho Sabóia replaced Fumanchu Ponta. Mauro-Facundo Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Flavio Vittori came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Merusca F&P's Hélder Fonseca. But to his dismay, Hélder Fonseca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Merusca F&P's Fábio Trevisan was substituted for Anderson Vidal. 72 minutes into the game, Pedrinho Paranaense threw the ball into play from the sideline. Italy's Siricio Liotta quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Mauro-Facundo Buffon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zaccheo Andolina's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. In the 79th minute Italy were awarded a corner. Sigfrido Auletta went to the cornerflag to take it. Hélder Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Curto in the 96th minute of play forced Merusca F&P's goalkeeper Mauro-Facundo Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Italy were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
