Zacarias Ascencio was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dalmacio Olivar showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 44 minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Düsseldorf FC's goalkeeper Stelios Kopanaras, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 54 minutes into the game, Benny Niva cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Stelios Kopanaras was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Benny Niva kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Stelios Kopanaras. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Celta de Virgos walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
