Criciúma Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bieito Villaurreta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 11 minutes, Lionel 梅西 made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Criciúma Esporte Clube from getting a goal against them. Club A. Independiente's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Manuel Cordearo in the 20th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Laurentzi in the 54th minute of play forced Club A. Independiente's goalkeeper Lajos Vadász to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 72 minutes, Gervasio Dalmai mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club A. Independiente and the Criciúma Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Club A. Independiente's Gervasio Dalmai got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Lajos Vadász was a little too slow when Paulo Laurentzi got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 2-2. Lajos Vadász made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Paulo Laurentzi sent off a good shot on target. After 78 played minutes Club A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Gervasio Dalmai. Lajos Vadász made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bieito Villaurreta in the 84th minute. In the 85th minute Paulo Laurentzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lajos Vadász saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Paulo Laurentzi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lajos Vadász was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. When the match clock showed 89 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Lionel 梅西 sped through Criciúma Esporte Clube's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Evelio Antoniano. With a little luck, Club A. Independiente's Lajos Vadász got control of the ball when Paulo Laurentzi tried to sneak it across the goal line.
