The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carlos Capixaba charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Iago Bala sent off a good shot on target. America Futebol Clube SP's Stefan Rasiak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 24th minute of play. Stefan Rasiak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 32nd minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefan Rasiak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabiano Monteiro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Arnout Reekers when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bart Zomerhuis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 51st minute of play forced America Futebol Clube SP's goalkeeper Stefan Rasiak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. America Futebol Clube SP's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Stefan Rasiak quite easily take care of the ball. In the 64th minute Lars Meesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefan Rasiak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute of the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Stefan Rasiak was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Arnout Reekers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jeronimo Rico went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of Netherlands booed when America Futebol Clube SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tadeu Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stefan Rasiak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bart Zomerhuis, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. 88 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Meesters came free, but Stefan Rasiak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute, Jeronimo Rico left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The America Futebol Clube SP fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The America Futebol Clube SP fans cheered their team off the field, for while Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
