The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rafael de Salles hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Miguel Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute, Ernani Corrêa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, Coritiba City's Cristiano Aparecido sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Falcão Severo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 21 minutes, Miguel Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube Audax Metropolitano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 26 minutes into the match, Clube Audax Metropolitano's Claudinho Teixeira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Pedro Vides narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernandinho Mendes during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 31st match minute, Coritiba City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cícero Batista to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute, Cristiano Aparecido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Pedro Vides was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Ronaldinho Andrade. Cauan Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Gerber in the 47th minute of play forced Coritiba City's goalkeeper José Pedro Vides to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fellipe Bueno stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fellipe Bueno in the 53rd minute of play forced Coritiba City's goalkeeper José Pedro Vides to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Pedro Vides showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fellipe Bueno in the 57th minute of the match. After 57 minutes, Cristiano Aparecido mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Coritiba City and the Clube Audax Metropolitano players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th match minute, Coritiba City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristiano Aparecido to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute of the match Ronaldinho Andrade shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but José Pedro Vides showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Claudinho Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Clube Audax Metropolitano made a substitution. Vivaldo Albuquerque replaced Miguel Fontes. After 68 minutes, Cícero Batista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Coritiba City and the Clube Audax Metropolitano players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 68 played minutes Coritiba City got a freekick which was hit by Cícero Batista. José Pedro Vides showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germano Gerber in the 71st minute of the match. Vivaldo Albuquerque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Pedro Vides having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Coritiba City's goal looked a bit too open when Fellipe Bueno came free, but José Pedro Vides reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Pedro Vides showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Albuquerque, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute Fellipe Bueno suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 79 minutes of play Coritiba City's Rafael de Salles was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Geovanni Falcão was substituted for Fellipe Bueno. After 82 played minutes Coritiba City got a freekick which was hit by Rafael de Salles. When the match clock showed 86 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Vivaldo Albuquerque sped through Coritiba City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of José Pedro Vides. In the 90th match minute, Coritiba City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeca Neto to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Coritiba City's zone, Ronaldinho Andrade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Pedro Vides came out of the goal and Ronaldinho Andrade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 94th minute, Germano Gerber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Vivaldo Albuquerque managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube Audax Metropolitano's supporters rose to their feet, but Vivaldo Albuquerque was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Pedro Vides breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee ended the match the Clube Audax Metropolitano players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
