The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Northland Vikings's Ture Waller. But to his dismay, Ture Waller quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antonio Čolak got free with Wilson Amorim in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Denver Phoenix hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Daniel Pimentel might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benne Benneborg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Pimentel ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 22nd minute, Felipe Barreto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 26 minutes into the match, Northland Vikings's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Benne Benneborg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31stth minute of the game Felipe Barreto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Northland Vikings's Benne Benneborg was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A throw-in in the 40th minute of the game was made by Faustino Almeida with Fabricio Andrade as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Northland Vikings's Benne Benneborg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graciano Coutinho in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Moreira in the 43rd minute of play forced Northland Vikings's goalkeeper Benne Benneborg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benne Benneborg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 47th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Graciano Coutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portugal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Graciano Coutinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
