The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jacinto Maurer to strike the kick off in the second half. Hias Nüssli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Radomil Bendyk in the 54th minute of the match. Jacinto Maurer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilbert Cisek read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Lucjan Ciechocki made in the 57th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Karol Deput immediately put the ball in play. Rodrigo von Känel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilbert Cisek having to interfere. Rodrigo von Känel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacinto Maurer struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Gilbert Cisek didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Switzerland. After having played for 93 minutes, Jacinto Maurer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Switzerland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jacinto Maurer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
