The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Branislav Velchevski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 徐光辉 in the 5th minute of the match. 5 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Club Atletico Lanus's 徐光辉 fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Elpidio Francis might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Torcato Modesto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elpidio Francis ran back to his position shaking his head. 17 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Astor Sancho came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 徐光辉 in the 18th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Lanus's goalkeeper Torcato Modesto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elpidio Francis. The crowd rose to their feet as Elpidio Francis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Torcato Modesto. That made the score 1-1 in the 21 minute of play. Elpidio Francis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Torcato Modesto came out and tried to block the shot, but Elpidio Francis slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 24th minute. Torcato Modesto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Francis in the 28th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Cilio came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Branislav Velchevski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aquilino Leguizamón in the 45th minute of play.

ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Arnaldo Gabon was substituted for Miguel Prosperi. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elpidio Francis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Astor Sancho hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Elpidio Francis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Branislav Velchevski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 徐光辉, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by 徐光辉 in the 70th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elpidio Francis scored 3-1 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Torcato Modesto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Arnaldo Gabon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Torcato Modesto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnaldo Gabon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Torcato Modesto having to interfere. Emanuel Cilio kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Club Atletico Lanus's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
