Valdo Diniz went to the cornerflag to take it. Nova Venécia-ES's Natã Quintal was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sandro Tepedino in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Sandro Tepedino stood somewhat misplaced when Natã Quintal came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 16 minute. Sandro Tepedino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Natã Quintal in the 19th minute. Albertinho Andrade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sandro Tepedino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vitório Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Luisão Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lionel Mesías hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. If Valdo Diniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sandro Tepedino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Natã Quintal in the 42nd minute. In the 42nd minute, Bebeto Pimenta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
