An unexpectedly hard shot by Siricio Liotta in the 6th minute of play forced Tirant lo Blanch's goalkeeper Kamal Pahlevi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Zaccheo Andolina came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Italy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zaccheo Andolina couldn't finish the play. Jorge Carmona lost his temper 16 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Kamal Pahlevi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Tirant lo Blanch's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Kamal Pahlevi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kamal Pahlevi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Porziano Marchitelli in the 29th minute of play. Kamal Pahlevi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kamal Pahlevi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonatan Raymundo was the one to do the kick off. In the 50th minute of the match, Porziano Marchitelli got a very nice opportunity to score, but Kamal Pahlevi was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Kamal Pahlevi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Siricio Liotta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zaccheo Andolina struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Kamal Pahlevi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Italy. Tirant lo Blanch's Jefferson Pinheiro was substituted for Dabi Barba. Tirant lo Blanch's Carmen Paniagua was substituted for Leonard Treppa. After 77 minutes Italy's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Pitin Vallejo who took care of the corner kick. 89 minutes into the game, Tirant lo Blanch's Pitin Vallejo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavio Vittori made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Italy made a substitution. Guiscardo Davide replaced Sigfrido Auletta. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. Deodato Magliozzi made in the 94th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Porziano Marchitelli. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Tirant lo Blanch fans cheered their team off the field, for while Italy had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
