The audience thought a goal was coming when Perivaldo Eger got free with Calistrat Madgearu in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mike Zoetmulder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorin Banu in the 20th minute of the match. Mike Zoetmulder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihăiţă Ilarie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goal looked a bit too open when Dorin Banu came free, but Mike Zoetmulder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, MIT Craiova's Calistrat Madgearu got control of the ball when Twan Mol tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to De Pelgrims getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Theo Tuyp hit a great ball. After some careless play in the De Pelgrims defense, Bogdan Bucataru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mike Zoetmulder. The De Pelgrims fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mike Zoetmulder should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Perivaldo Eger made a kick off. Tiberiu Caramarin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mike Zoetmulder read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. 52 minutes into the game, Tiberiu Caramarin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mike Zoetmulder. Tiberiu Caramarin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. The MIT Craiova fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. David Tunander who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 85thth minute tested the skills of Mike Zoetmulder when he managed to save the team from getting behind. MIT Craiova's Calistrat Madgearu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perivaldo Eger in the 87th minute of play. The MIT Craiova supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing MIT Craiova would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
