With an all-out effort, Braga Junior FC's Arnout Reekers threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dinei Sergipano, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 18th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brickeen Wall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brickeen Wall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 25th minute of play. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Braga Junior FC's Dinei Sergipano. But to his dismay, Dinei Sergipano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 31st minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brickeen Wall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Adrian Mutu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Brickeen Wall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 39th minute of the match. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adrian Mutu in the 41st minute. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. Justo Berart charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Justo Berart the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Braga Junior FC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Justo Berart hit a great ball. The Netherlands fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when Netherlands's Wim Wilmes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The supporters of Netherlands booed when Braga Junior FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justo Berart didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 58 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. 61 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Dinei Sergipano came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinei Sergipano in the 61st minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Braga Junior FC's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Brickeen Wall reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brickeen Wall showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 65th match minute, Braga Junior FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristiano Håland to maneuver through the defense. 68 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Téo Maciel came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brickeen Wall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 69th minute of play. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brickeen Wall having to interfere. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dinei Sergipano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd minute Téo Maciel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 1-2 became the score in the 87th minute when Wim Wilmes elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Braga Junior FC's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brickeen Wall came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Braga Junior FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomasz Waldoch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brickeen Wall having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
